About Us

We play a key role in regulating the resources industry, attracting and facilitating investment and managing access to the state’s resources.

Our staff are spread across Victoria and include those from Earth Resources Regulation, Earth Resources Policy and Programs, the Geological Survey of Victoria and CarbonNet.

Earth Resources Regulation

Earth Resources Regulation oversees the mineral, quarry and onshore conventional gas sectors in Victoria to protect public safety, infrastructure and the environment. The team includes engineers, hydrologists, scientists, licensing officers, inspectors, policy makers, engagement specialists and assessment officers.

Geological Survey of Victoria

The Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) is the Victorian Government’s geoscience agency. GSV is responsible for understanding the state’s geological framework through regional geoscientific investigations, particularly to enable the informed and responsible management of state-owned resources.

CarbonNet Project

The CarbonNet Project is working to establish a commercial scale Carbon Capture and Storage network in Gippsland. As CarbonNet proceeds to commercialisation it aims to secure a low emissions future for Victoria through the decarbonisation of industries such as hydrogen and fertiliser production, while boosting jobs and increasing investment into the state.

Earth Resources Policy and Programs

Earth Resources Policy and Programs leads on resources sector policy, commodity strategies, targeted programs and land-use planning. Earth Resources Policy and Programs staff include economists, policy officers, engagement specialists, data modelling experts.
