Information sessions – November 2021

On 29 October 2021, the Victorian Government announced the successful North Central Victorian Goldfield Ground Release tenderers.

The successful tenderers, Fosterville Gold Mine Pty Ltd and Southern Star Exploration Pty Ltd, have now progressed to the minerals exploration licensing phase which is conducted by Earth Resources Regulation.

The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions held three online information sessions to update local communities on potential minerals exploration in their area following the tender announcements. The sessions outlined the minerals exploration licensing process and, for local communities, how they can have a say.

Before any of the minerals exploration licences can be granted to the successful tenderers, the public has an opportunity to make submissions in relation to the licence applications for a 21-day period. In Victoria, explorers require landholder consent before they can access privately owned land and commence exploration activities. We’ll also provide information about the obligations of explorers and environmental safeguards.
