Efficient Regulation
Efficient and transparent regulation provides certainty for the quarry sector and helps communities to better understand what they can expect from operations at local quarries.
That is why efficient regulation is a key theme of the Helping Victoria Grow: Extractive Resources Strategy.
We’re delivering a range of measures to improve how quarries are regulated, including:
- the recommendations of the Commissioner for Better Regulation’s Getting the Groundwork Right: Better Regulation of Mines and Quarries report
- actions outlined in the 2017 Joint Ministerial Statement on Extractive Resources:
- the Extractive Industry Priority Project List
- amendments to the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to provide more flexibility for quarry operators.
