Community information session: Minerals exploration in north east Victoria
Communities in the Bright, Harrietville, Myrtleford and Yackandandah areas can learn more about minerals exploration.
The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions is hosting an online information session about minerals exploration for communities in the Bright, Harrietville, Myrtleford and Yackandandah areas.
Date: Thursday 18 February 2021
This session has been organised in response to an increase in minerals exploration licence applications in the area and ongoing activity looking for evidence of gold and in-demand minerals.
Learn about what minerals exploration involves, the licensing process, explorer obligations with regards to engagement with local communities, and an update on potential local projects.
Minerals exploration and mining are very different processes and only one per cent of exploration leads to mining. If a commercially viable minerals deposit is identified, a separate and longer process towards mining involves environmental assessment and extensive local consultation and engagement.
Attendees may submit questions at registration ahead of the session. All questions submitted before and during the live recorded presentation will be posted and answered on the Earth Resources website.
For further information, please contact Donna Mongan, Senior Engagement Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 0436 662 399.
