Latrobe Valley coal mine rehabilitation
Yallourn and Loy Yang Rehabilitation
The Victorian Government has secured a minimum seventeen-year mine rehabilitation guarantee with the operators of the Yallourn and Loy Yang coal mines in the Latrobe Valley.
To allow for this rehabilitation, the licences for Yallourn and Loy Yang have been extended to 2051 and 2065 respectively.

Annual Rehabilitation Reporting
The government has asked the operators of the coal mines to publicly report on their mine rehabilitation progress by 30 September each year.
The reports address the following matters:
- The area of rehabilitation completed in the reporting period,
- The cumulative area rehabilitated since mining commenced, and
- A map showing worked areas, areas cumulatively rehabilitated and areas rehabilitated in the reporting period.
