On 23 April 2021, the Federal Court of Australia appointed Brendan Richards and Peter McCluskey of KPMG as liquidators of Kralcopic Pty Ltd.

On 14 May 2021, Kralcopic’s liquidators lodged papers with ASIC to disclaim Kralcopic’s freehold land at Woodvale Ponds and parcels of land around the company’s former Bendigo mine sites, with the land reverting to Crown land.

Earth Resources Regulation will use rehabilitation bonds to rehabilitate the land under Victoria’s mining laws.

The Victorian Supreme Court has confirmed that any plant and equipment on Kralcopic’s former mine sites became Crown property six months after Earth Resources Regulation decided to refuse to renew the company’s licences.

Attributable to Executive Director Earth Resources Regulation Anthony Hurst

“Earth Resources Regulation has stepped in to deliver the rehabilitation of Kralcopic’s former mine sites around Bendigo.”

“We’ll ensure the site maintenance and rehabilitation obligations at the former mine sites are upheld to protect public health and safety.”

“We will continue to keep Woodvale residents and the Bendigo community informed as we prepare to rehabilitate the former mine sites.”
