Regulatory Compliance

Earth Resources Regulation regulates mines and quarries under the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990 and petroleum activities under the Petroleum Act 1998.

We are responsible for ensuring that authority holders comply with their responsibilities under these Acts as well as the conditions of their licences and work plans.

The Earth Resources Regulation Compliance Strategy 2018-2020 outlines how we will encourage, monitor and enforce regulatory compliance of Victorian earth resources. It describes how we will promote a culture of anticipating and preventing incidents as well as dealing with risk and non-compliance. You can download the Compliance Strategy 2018-2020 below.
