About Earth Resources
The Earth Resources portfolio is supported by the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR).
The Earth Resources portfolio includes policy development, legislative and regulatory reform, investment facilitation and the implementation of key government initiatives relating to the earth resources sector.
Victoria's earth resources industries continue to support the economic development of the State, with opportunities to increase investment in earth resources, secure regional and economic benefits and improve the performance of the sector.
The department plays a key role in driving improvement activities in these sectors, with a focus on:
- attracting and facilitating investment in coal, gas, and targeted mineral resources
- responsibly managing and securing access to earth resources for current and future use
- supporting investment in technological development within the earth resources sectors
- providing an efficient regulatory framework that enables development while effectively managing the potential risks to the environment and community.
As of 1 July 2016, the Energy portfolio has moved to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. This website will be progressively updated to reflect this change. For contact details for the Energy division, please visit the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning website
